Our Tutors
Due to the size of classrooms, schools are unable to guarantee the needs of each student are met. The benefit of one-on-one tutoring is students are set up to form a meaningful attachment with their tutor. A good tutor must have more than just the right degree and resume. Thrive tutoring is different because of the selection process of our tutors. Our core leadership team personally interviews and vets every potential team member. We are looking for life experience, relational intelligence, emotional intelligence, and a person who carries our core values: intuition, connection, curiosity, story, hope, and passion. Our owner and senior team member. Matthew has a degree in Education, English, and Mathematics. He is the king of encouragement and has a contagious passion for engaging people. And with over a decade of experience in education he guides and leads our team as we shape our curriculum.
Truly a lifelong learner who is passionate about supporting people. She is currently pursuing her masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling here in Denver. Kelly enjoys the outdoors via hiking and skiing, hosting game nights with friends, and inspiring hope for those who feel stuck.
Josh is man of passion and purpose. He has a degree in Speech Communications and an M. Div. making him a jack of all trades. His intellect is matched by his compassion for people. He is a gifted communicator and great at coming alongside students and families to see them succeed.
Abby has a bachelor's degree in history and a love of the Spanish language. She enjoys exploring the many historical sites Colorado has to offer. Abby is passionate about seeing the joy of learning spread. She believes that all students can flourish as obstacles that hold them back are removed.
Josh is a firm believer in the power of connection. As a coach and mentor for over 20 years, he has a knack for making the complex simple. When not busy studying for his MA in School Counseling & Clinical Mental Health Counseling or tutoring, he’s hanging out with his wife and 3 kids or serving his church.
A licensed teacher with 25 years of experience. She is a registered Reading Recovery teacher trained in Orton Gillingham. She is loves coming alongside struggling readers reach their full potential as lifelong learners. Outside of tutoring, she loves to spend time outdoors with her grandchildren.
Sarah loves language and the transformative power of story, and she is excited about helping people feel confident in their writing and communicating. She has experience at the DU writing center, as a researcher, and mentor! Sarah is originally from Wisconsin and can almost always be found drinking tea or coffee.
Kelsey taught elementary school for 8 years and is now pursuing a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is passionate about meeting students needs socially, emotionally, and academically by making learning fun. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, hiking, and taking her dog, Auggie on walks.
She is a Colorado native and outdoor enthusiast. Here heart and passion is for all things literacy related. And she has almost ten years experience in that area with K-5 students. She is deeply dedicated to fostering confident, independent, life-long learners!
She is currently working on a Masters Degree in Formation and Soul Care. Michaela is passionate about helping people come alive be personally empowered to grow their minds and creativity. In my free time, I love spending time outside and going on long walks with friends or my husband.
Hannah has a BS in Exercise Science and is currently at getting a MA in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling. She enjoys reading, spending time with friends, traveling and adventures in nature. She truly believes this generation today needs to be loved, known, and invested in to see a brighter future.
She has spent the last 25 years either running a daycare or teaching pre-school. She loves to see children experience the joy of learning and realizing their potential. She has a degree in psychology and is currently taking classes in a Child Life Specialist program. She spends her free time watching sports and exploring CO.
She has a love for creativity and storytelling. She studied illustration for her Bachelor’s and is working to pursue her MFA. When she’s not drawing, she loves working with kids and youth to help them tap into their creativity to solve problems and grow into their potential. Colorado is home and she love exploring the outdoors!
An artist at heart, he loves to write poetry and play music. After some years working in the corporate world he felt a pull towards mentoring and counseling. Ryan is currently earning his masters degree to become a child focused Licensed Professional Counselor. His passion is to help young people to heal, learn, and begin to thrive.
Mario works at the University of Denver Writing Center, where he first discovered his passion for teaching. Reading and writing have always been a part of his life, and they are excited about helping people feel more assured in their writing. Mario is originally from Texas and can almost always be found reading the Manga One Piece.
Also an owner, he is the architect and the jack of all trades. David has an undergraduate degree in Physics and Mathematics and Masters of Arts in Philosophy and Theology. With nearly a decade of experience David lives to see people realize their potential and discover the joy of learning.
Hailing from the midwest Steph is a lifelong learner, lover of nature, and a connector. She also works as a Physician Assistant, but can’t stay away from the books. As a mentor for over 5 years she finds joy and purpose in empowering students to achieve their goals both in and out of the classroom.
An outdoor lover who over a decade of experience. She has a degree in Secondary Education and a MA in Cross-Cultural Studies. Christy loves working one-on-one with students and helping them move toward their goals, but she makes sure to infuse joy into each step along the way.
Andrew helps people push beyond their limits and achieve things they thought they couldn't. He has a MA in Environmental Science and has worked in the non-profit land conservation field for the past 5 years. In his free time, he is often biking, running, climbing, or looking for an adventure.
A teacher for 24 years, Russ loves to challenge and coach students to grow emotionally, socially, and academically. He knows all kids have unique gifts and loves to see them discover who are they are. Outside of the classroom Fly fishing, basketball, and laughing are his favorite things.
Kelsey is an actuary by training and trade, but a writer and coach by passion. She loves helping people see the world in a fresh way and walk out of their truest, fullest selves. Running single-track, sparking ideas for her Young Adult fantasy trilogy, and laughing are some of her favorite things to do.
A Colorado native and CSU graduate. She is a natural coach. AnneMarie is passionate about connecting students with self-compassion and discovering their own intrinsic value. She sees almost any activity as an opportunity for humans to get to know themselves better and amplify their strengths.
Teaching is Marcy’s Joy in life! She has 6 years of experience working alongside elementary students with mild-to-moderate learning needs. I received my Masters degree in Special Education from MSU. She has holistic focus on both their confidence in new skills and on who they are as a person.
A Chemical Engineer with a passion for teaching. He loves the integration of science and math. Seeing students connect concepts to the real world is his passion. In his free time, he enjoys paddle boarding, playing with his dog, and going to the gym.
He has been teaching math and science almost a decade. Jonathan loves sharing his passion with students, and helping them see the beauty and order in the laws and rules of mathematics especially. When he is not working, he is typically spending time outside hiking, biking, fishing, and skiing.
Malea is close to wrapping up her degree in Psychology at DU! She is driven to understand how the brain and learning works. This gives her a creative edge helping students. When not tutoring she is probably enjoying the outdoors. You will find her in the mountains backpacking, skiing, or just at the gym.
She has a degree in Elementary Ed and over 30 years experience as a classroom teacher. Sharon love s to use hands-on activities, music and movement to make learning fun and engaging. She enjoys the excitement, curiosity and energy of students. Sharon loves staying active outdoors and watching her daughter compete in Softball.
A life long learner, Tegan earned her Bachelors from Bucknell in Philosophy and Gender Studies and earned two Master's Degrees from Durham University (one in Philosophy and one in Political Theory). An avid outdoorswoman, Tegan is passionate about protecting the environment and loves to find reasons to be outside.
Alan has always had a love of learning and teaching. His interests and knowledge are broad. At Columbia University he majored in Chemistry and Spanish Literature. He also holds an MD from the University of Colorado. He has years of experience tutoring and teaching students. His curiosity and passion are contagious!
She has 8 years of teaching experience and a MA degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Her three goals for her students are building problem solving skills, creating a love of learning, and fostering a confident growth mindset. When she's not hard at work in the classroom she loves to go new places and play board games.
Our third owner and the guy who keeps us running smooth! He is a friend to everyone he meets and puts full effort into everything he does. Jon a masters degree in Public Health. He has a passion for seeing people reach their full potential and has seven years of experience tutoring and mentoring students.
Adam has a passion for developing and mentoring young people. He is goofy and lighthearted and has a degree in Mechanical Engineering. For 5 years he has been working for a local non-profit training young adults in bicycle mechanics and the necessary soft skills to find meaningful work.
A proud Colorado native and graduate of Colorado State University. He holds two Masters degrees in Theology and the Humanities. He is an avid sports fan and natural coach! Vincent is passionate about helping others reach their goals and look forward to working with students on their way to success!
Ethan studied engineering and art in his undergrad, yielding a balance of skills. He has taught for Mad Science, Apple, and privately. He tailors to each student's abilities and strengths. Ethan views tutoring primarily as a relationship that fosters the holistic growth of everyone.
If he's not playing board games or rock climbing, he's probably reading. With many years as a Mechanical Design Engineer and experience as a youth mentor, he loves when math and physics begin to make sense and come alive for students. Seeing students turn a corner is what energizes him!
Alex loves to explore. Whether that's on a road trip, a run, or a hike, he enjoys seeing and experiencing new terrain. You can find him spending time with friends or outside for a walk if he's not studying for his MDiv. Alex is a big encourager and aims to help students feel confident and capable.
Erin has a degree in Science Education and years of experience as a teacher. She is also a certified wellness and life coach! This makes her the total package for academic support. When she isn’t helping people meet their goals she is probably leading fitness classes or enjoying the beautiful outdoors with her family.
She loves working one-on-one with students and building a deep relationship with them. As a classroom teacher, she enjoys the additional time spent in the focused learning of a tutoring session. She graduated from Dordt University with a major in elementary ed and special ed.
Spencer is currently pursing my MA in Clinical Counseling. He has a broad range of skills and an extensive experience teaching, tutoring, and mentoring young adults. He describes himself as a “Story Listener” and he loves helping students flourish.
He studied International Business knowing he wanted to interact with people. After working in the professional world for a few years he decided to pivot to more focus on people. He is now working on his MA in Counseling and working in Education to explore that passion of developing people!
She grew up in Lebanon and moved to the States for college and is now getting her MA in Counseling. She loves watching students have their "light-bulb moments" and really begin to form healthy identity! Some of the things that bring her joy are friends, hiking, reading, coffee shops, and listening to music.
He has a degree in English and a MA in Teaching. He loves classroom teaching, but also tutors because it provides the opportunity for deep relationships. When students feel safe, known, and respected, they can feel confident. He also enjoys board games, movies, shows, and staying super active in the great outdoors.
Jordyn has worked with kids for the past 12 years in camps and interning at schools. She has experience with both Special Ed and Montessori teaching. For the past few years she has been working as a social worker in the public school setting. She loves reading and tries to instill that in others. Fun fact, she read over 200 books last year.
Lucam is a Science and Math teacher with five years of experience. A former aerospace engineer working in the private jet business, he found greater purpose and joy in teaching and tutoring young adults at the high school and college levels. He strongly believes that a trusting relationship is at the core of a healthy learning environment.
He is an aerospace engineer with experience working on human spaceflight and satellite constellations monitoring climate change. He loves to teach others math and science as it helps us better understand and explore the world around us. Outside of work he enjoys hiking, camping, snowboarding, and exploring the mountains.
She is the creative one on our team and helps us keep innovating. Amy has a MA in global development, which she completed while working for an international non-profit organization. She has worked over thirty countries and has 5 years of experience working as a life coach and mentor.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, he is currently getting his MA in clinical mental health counseling. Hance worked in the corporate world for five years and has felt lead to shift to a more relational vocation. He is excited build on his lifelong passion for teaching and mentoring!
After serving an AmeriCorps in Denver, Dom knew she had to move from here. She is currently pursuing her teaching certification. She loves connecting with each student to understand them as both a learner and a person. She’s always down to talk about your favorite recipes or TikToks!
Susan loves to travel to new places, bake healthy desserts, and brew her own kombucha. She has a degree in Public Health and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Her patience combined with over 8 years of tutoring experience help her to connect with students and support them in their academic journey.
She is a Colorado Native with a flair for creativity and learning. Mia has a BSBA in Marketing from Denver University, then went on to become a certified Health and Wellness Coach. She is passionate about helping others move towards their goals while still finding joy in the process.
He is from San José, Costa Rica. He is currently finishing a degree in arts and sciences with a background in filmmaking and writing. Alejo has a broad range of interests and passions. His bilingual and creative background help him connect well with a variety of students.
Donna is an experienced and passionate educator. Her degree was in Elementary Special Education. She brings with her over 20 years of experience working alongside students with mild to moderate learning needs in a variety of contexts. She is enthusiastic, faithful, and a patient communicator who kids love being with!
She has a passion for connecting with students about everything from pop culture to philosophy, and calling out their strengths. She has a decade of teaching experience in Spanish and leadership. She is a mom of 2 who loves reading, boarding, youth ministry, and activism.
She spent almost a decade working with a global education non-profit. Shelby loves encouraging and pushing students to be confident and establish sustainable habits. She is a recovering coffee addict, lover of global travel, adventures, and living in Denver.
She is a creative mentor and teacher with a non-anxious presence. She spent five years teaching in Vienna, Austria at an international school. This instilled a love of diversity and learning from other cultures. She loves going deep and processing the things of life with care and a gentle spirit of curiosity.
He studied music composition, then went on to become a nurse and a professional baker. He is now back in school to become a Physical Therapist. He is a licensed High School Math teacher with 5 years of experience. He also taught through the COVID epidemic in both a virtual and high school setting, so he is well versed in many modalities of teaching. He will advocate to students for a students actual needs and his passion for learning is contagious!
For Dean tutoring is so much more than teaching someone how to do things, but helping students discover who they are. He is currently working towards his Neuropharmacology Ph.D. In his free time, Dean can be found connecting with people in his community, working out, playing chess, and spending time with his family.
